Christmas Eve in Wimborne Minster - Wednesday 24th December 2008 |
We were asked by the Mayors office to perform in Wimborne Minster's square. We played on and off between 10am and 3pm. Festive tunes, as well as our more usual tunes were played. Everybody really enjoyed themselves, showing off some massive grins and having a laugh. This was probably one of the most enjoyable events for the year, rather apt considering it is the last event of 2008 for the Dorset Youth Marching Band of Wimborne. Merry Christmas to all, here's to another brilliant year of banding! |

Wimborne Christmas Parade - Saturday 13th December 2008 |
Every Christmas we lead the Wimborne Save the Children Parade through the streets of Wimborne Minster. The parade leads from the Wimborne Market, through the town, to The Wimborne Minster. We were joined, as we are most years, by the Christchurch Scout and Guide Band. Having the two bands combine as one massed band makes for an impressive look and sound. The parade itself has plenty of floats and walking performers, in various costumes, including the Bournemouth Carnival Band. The Bournemouth Carnival Band (or Spiderman Band as they are sometimes called) and the Christchurch Scout and Guide Band can also be seen at our concert in February, Massed Bands in Concert 2009, along with plenty of other bands. Keep an eye out for more details on that! Luckily the rain held off for the whole parade and after leading the parade throughout Wimborne, we were inside being treated to Tea and Mince Pies. Soon we were back outside marching through the town centre, playing to all the crowds that were still gathered, watching the various attractions that were still performing. The massed band sounded great and performed brilliantly. Well done to everybody and a big thank you to the Christchurch Scout and Guide Band for joining us, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Broadstone Christmas Parade - Saturday 6th December 2008 |
This is an annual Christmas parade for DYMB. We march in the parade around the streets of Broadstone, playing to the crowds that have massed to watch. Again, we played our powerful array of tunes and our seasonal Christmas tunes, even playing a couple of requests! |

Children's Christmas Lantern Procession - Thursday 11th December 2008 |
We first lead this parade last year. It heads off from Falkland Square, down the High Street to the Guildhall, where the children in the parade perform a carol service. We marched down the High Street playing an array of Christmas tunes, with some of our usual tunes thrown in. It was a highly enjoyable event as the atmosphere was so merry! We hope the children in the lantern parade enjoyed listening to us. |

Poole Father Christmas Parade - Sunday 16th November 2008 |
This is the first Christmas event for us this year. We join the parade that marches Father Christmas from Poole Quay, down Poole High Street up to the Dolphin Centre, where he then heads into his Grotto. The parade is made up of several different attractions, including Stilt Walkers, a Land Train, various children in costume. Also members from the cast of Richard Wittington and Emmerdale, our friends the Dolphin Marching Band and not forgetting Santa who was being pulled on a sled by a Reindeer! We marched through the roads and down the High Street to the Dolphin Centre, playing our usually array of tunes, with the added touch of Christmas tunes thrown in. Well done to everybody for a brilliant march! |
