| Bournemouth Carnival - Sunday 8th August 2010 |
|
The Bournemouth Carnival has undergone some changes this year. It was a lot longer than last years route. The Spitfires lead the first half of the carnival and we stepped in just outside of Meyrick Park and lead the carnival for the final half of the route. Almost immediately we were playing through the Square and to the crowds that had gathered to watch the procession. Receiving applause as we marched, we played our varying array of tunes to the onlookers. Soon we were at the Pier Approach where we stopped and played a few tunes to the crowds who were visiting the beach or one of the other attractions. We had a break, during which we ate some dinner, before heading to the Gala Night at the Carrington House Hotel. We headed in a sat down for a drink, whilst we waited for our spot. Soon 5 of our bugle section lined up, to play a fanfare welcoming the Mayor of Bournemouth to the Gala Night. Shortly after the fanfare, the band marched into the festivities and played to the audience, receiving plenty of applause. A brilliant day for the Quarterjacks, busy, but great fun. The rest of August is quiet for the band, but we'll be back with a blast for the Carnival Season, starting with Blandford Carnival on the 11th September! |
