| Kingsbridge Camp 2010 - 23rd July - 27th July |
|
Kingsbridge Camp is the Quarterjack's annual camp to Devon. We arrived on Friday and met the team of leaders that headed down to camp earlier in the day to set up. All our kit was unloaded and we set up our spot in the tents. We finished the night by sitting round the camp fire for a bit with a hot drink before heading to bed. Saturday we rose and ate a lovely cooked breakfast before getting our instruments out and practicing a few tunes ready for the Kingsbridge Carnival later that day. Once the practicing was all done, some of us continued to practice, others played a few games, some cleaned our kit. Before long we were heading to Kingsbridge for the carnival. After taking a look around the town, we marched our way through the carnival, receiving plenty of applause along the way. Watch the video to see why!
Soon we were on our way back to camp where we enjoyed fish and chips in the marque (by this point the rain had joined us!). Soon we were off to bed, ready for a busy Sunday. After polishing off another brilliant breakfast, we prepared for a trip to Dartmouth where we got the chance to take a look around the shops and the sights. Luckily the weather picked up and the Sun was beaming. On our way back to camp we stopped at a beach to chill out for a bit before going back to camp and tucking into a brilliant chili and sitting around the camp fire. Monday was our last full day before we headed home, so we packed it full. First we headed out to Woodlands Theme Park, where we went on the various rides and looked at the animals etc. Soon we headed back to camp, where we got ready to visit Challaborough Bay. The sea was calm and perfect to play (if slightly cold) in. Some sat on the beach in the sun, others played in the sea. We dried off and headed back to camp where we ate a brilliant dinner before getting a good nights sleep. On Tuesday we packed up promptly and headed home ahead of schedule, making one stop for lunch at Exeter services. Soon we were back in Dorset, we unloaded the kit and went our seperate ways. A brilliant weekend for all involved! |
