Our Friends in France
La Boumelle Gîtes

Joyce and Dave, who own and run La Boumelle Gîtes, have been giving the Quarterjacks somewhere to stay since our first visit in 2006. Without their generosity and hospitality, the trips to France wouldn't be the success that they are every year!

The Gites are located close to Saumur, where we spend a lot of our time during our trip and give us easy access to many local towns and attractions. Of course, on those sunny days when we aren't out playing, the swimming pool is very useful!

We thank Dave and Joyce for their generosity over the years and are happy to have such good friends in France!

L'Avenir Allonnais

avenirallonnais

We met Allonnais in 2006, on our first trip to France. We instantly clicked with the members and have become friends, with some members of the Allonnais even coming over to Dorset for a holiday during an August Bank Holiday weekend. We have seen and spent time with l'Avenir Allonnais during our trips in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. We even had them over in February 2008 to play in Massed Bands in Concert 2008, which went down a storm. In November 2009 DYMB's Leadership Team were invited to Avenir Allonais Soirée Paëlla, which is basically a dinner and party! It was a great evening and the hospitality we found in France was once again unparalleled.

Allonnais are a very talented band, playing a huge array of tunes, albeit in a very different style to that which we are used to in Dorset. We hope our friendship with this band can last many years to come!

L'Elan Saumurois

elansaumurois

We met l'Elan Saumurois during 2007, on our second trip to France, we then spent time with them again in 2008, 2010 and 2011. In 2009, Elan Saumurois played in our very own Massed Bands in Concert 2009, which went down excellently with the audience and the on looking bands. DYMB and l'Elan Saumurois instantly gelled, with many of the younger members making friends incredibly quickly.

Harmonie de Vivy

Harmonie de Vivy were the first band DYMB met in France during France 2006. We played with them in centre of Vivy and they went to great effort to make us feel welcome into their country. We have spent time with the members of Vivy during the various social occasions in France whilst over there on our trips in 2007, 2008 and 2010. Our Bandmaster, Simon, took the opportunity to watch Harmonie de Vivy's Spring Concert 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to them again.
